‘AFTER THE LIGHT’
The Quaker Village of Letterfrack in North West Conamara has a troubled history and for many people unfortunately the name Letterfrack strikes terror in the heart.
Over time healing occurs. Change happens slowly.
Today Letterfrack is a thriving centre of excellence with more than 500 people involved in education - a fact which astounds most people.
It is important for us as a community, while acknowledging our troubled history, to move forward in a positive manner.
As part of Conamara SeaWeek 2011 we are putting in place a project that will involve the whole community in re-imagining the future.
In Letterfrack we have a Village Crèche, a Primary School, Youthreach, GMIT Letterfrack,VTOS, Connemara Community Radio, Connemara
West Centre – local development organisation and FORUM community development organisation all positively contributing to
establishing Letterfrack as a real centre of education.
We will have art exhibitions, installations, magical decorations, creating fun for all ages. This project should stimulate debate and provide
lots of work for an army of volunteers to take on the challenge of using the village as our art gallery thus bringing creativity out of
the buildings and into the community.
Coming to the village should be a magical experience in keeping with the time of year namely Halloween, a time of ghosts, myths
and mystery.

Come for the magic.....stay for the fun. |
